To make the most of your initial hypnosis session, determine one specific overpowering goal. It is best to focus on one goal though often working on one goal will resolve other goals. If you goal is to quit smoking, make sure not to smoke at least 4 hours before arrival.
Hypnosis is a natural state - you are in and out of hypnosis multiple times a day. It is when you are between wake and sleep.
During your hypnosis session you may feel like you have fallen asleep or you may have what feels like an out of body experience or you may be in a light trance. This depends on the individual as well as the hypnotic process. Through out the process, you are always in control.
Depending on the process used, the practitioner may be feeding your unconscious mind with positive thoughts or may be retrieving information from your unconscious mind or both.
At the end of the session you will feel lighter and very relaxed. Over the next 24 hours, in some cases, the subject may feel emotional or down. Please do not let this alarm you. It is actually a good sign as it is the unconscous mind negotiating with the new thought patterns and belief systems. Within 48 hours a new positive perspective prevails!
Changes take place over 7 to 10 days before they plateau. To further ingrain these changes and continue to make more changes, the follow up appointment should be within 7 to 10 days of the initial session.
